fresh color

fresh color, lots of it, on my table and in the grocery store this week. the produce section is coming alive again. will roast these charming multi-colored carrots tonight and serve with risotto and garden salad. a cook's palette becomes more playful and interesting as the growing season progresses.

thanks allie! i use a nikon d80. i love it. it was a big step up from my old nikon d50 in terms of light and image quality. i use an inexpensive nikkor macro lens which works really well.

Gretch... are those 'blue' potatoes? I've never seen them other than 'terra blue' chips. if so, where does one find them?

  5. yes they are blue potatoes! while not yet commonplace, they are around if you are looking for them at larger and/or specialty grocery stores, whole foods has them once in a while, farmer's markets are another good source. they are firm and waxy and more nutritious than new potatoes. plus the color is too fun. i like them roasted or in potato salad.
